June 19, 2022 — Back in the U.S.

It’s not June 12, but we’re back from vacation. On May 25 Peter’s wife Megan arrived with their oldest two children, and the next day we drove to JFK Airport and flew to England. There we visited Daniel, Ginny and their two children who have been there for almost three years. Daniel was sent there for work and Ruth and I had planned to celebrate our 40th anniversary with a trip to England, but COVID brought those plans to a halt. Christopher and Benjamin joined the party and we had a wonderful time. We spent four days in London and four days at Daniel and Ginny’s place in Cheltenham. While there we took day trips to Bath and a lot of small towns in the Cotswolds. We left Cheltenham and toured Yorkshire, the Lake District, Loch Lomond, going as far as Edinburgh. We flew home on June 10. Everywhere we went we said, “Let’s come back and spend a week here.”

Last week we dealt with the mail, the email, the garden, etc. We celebrated this year’s anniversary with dinner and a movie. We’re still waiting for official approval of our call to serve overseas, so I continued preparing the administrative foundation for our new ministry.

This week Ruth and I will be flying to Birmingham, AL for the General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church in America.
