On Friday Ruth and I had our first interview with an official in the agency to which we are applying. We had a pleasant chat for an hour and a half, at the end of which we received some new information. The starting date for the job for which we are applying is August 20 – not late September as we had been told initially. That makes it a challenge for the agency to process everything in time. The next opportunity for this position will be in March. So now we are waiting to see how this all plays out. We’d appreciate your prayers!
In addition to my regular round of duties at church and with this ministry, I am preparing for the fall adult Sunday School class on worship. Our church uses a liturgical approach, and I am to explain why and what it means. I’ve read several books, and am now in the thick of Dom Gregory Dix’s 750-page work The Shape of the Liturgy. I also visited a local Lutheran church pastored by an old friend, and then discussed with him how they worship, and why. I have a lot of ideas, a lot of work ahead, and the first class on September 5.
