Peter and I spent all day last Monday working on his basement bathroom — i.e. plumbing and framing to build a bathroom. It would be nice to finish before the crowds descend at Christmas. Ruth and I drove home on Tuesday, arriving in time to vote.
Regular campus visits are finished! I have visited each campus I supervise once this semester. There are hundreds of small matters that keep me busy, but two major projects are coming up: student training, and staff retreat. The student training conference will be this coming weekend, but I spent most of my time from Wednesday to Friday working on the staff retreat.
With COVID resurging in much of the country, RUF decided it was unwise to hold our national staff training in Denver this December. Instead, as in July, we will offer much smaller, closer regional gatherings. After much consultation with the ministers in my area we decided to meet Monday to Thursday, December 7-10 in State College at the hotel we used in July. Between now and December 7 I will spend a good portion of my time planning this event.
Meanwhile, this weekend I will be coordinating a virtual training conference for students. I will also be leading the track “Leading Bible Studies.” The content is standard and I am well-acquainted with it. The challenge will be doing it online. Not the least of our problems will be holding students’ attention all day! The campuses in western PA did this last weekend, so we hope to profit from their experience. Pray for us!
