June 7, 2020 — Home, Week 12

RUF virtual New Staff Orientation went off without a hitch last week. I honestly can’t say whether it was a success. That can only be determined as we see in the coming months how well the new staff acclimate to RUF, but the program was well executed. New ministers, staff, and interns were assigned videos to watch in advance, and the video conference sessions last week were largely Question and Answer. Producing Orientation online was a huge project, and the staff responsible for the technical aspects did a great job.

The rest of the week consisted of the normal emails, phone calls, and video conferences. Joey Barnet is getting oriented to taking charge of the ministry at University of Delaware, Trip Beans is selling his house and moving to Maryland to start RUF at UMBC, several other ministers are buying houses. I am getting ready to send out the next newsletter. Wednesday evening we had an RUF-wide virtual prayer meeting.

Orientation for Campus Ministers ended Thursday afternoon. Friday morning Ruth and I headed to Morgantown, WV to visit Peter, Megan, the grandchildren and Megan’s parents. Today is Eli’s birthday. Megan and Chris (her mother) prepared a vast array of carnival games and an obstacle course for the children. It was the most fun birthday I have ever seen. Yesterday Peter and I and Britt (Megan’s dad) built a swing between two trees and a zip line in the woods at the ege of their property.
