March 8, 2020 — New Jersey

Last Sunday morning I taught the final session in our training conference and worshiped at Evangelical Presbyterian Church in Newark, DE. EP is a vibrant PCA congregation and hosted us for the weekend, providing meeting space and a kitchen all day Saturday and housing over 50 students in homes. Ruth and I got a quick lunch, headed home, and spent the rest of the day unwinding.

I thought I would take Monday off, but that didn’t happen. I wrote reports, sent email, etc. until I left for New Jersey on Wednesday. My visit to Brent and Juli Kilman at Rowan University in Glassboro was short, but encouraging. This is Brent’s third year, and he has a truly impressive leadership group – three great juniors, three promising freshmen, and several others. That evening I attended their Large Group Meeting which featured excellent music by a Grove City College grad and a fine sermon by Brent. Thursday morning I got my daily exercise, then showed up for the daily prayer meeting on campus. Brent and I met in the afternoon and we reconvened with Juli for dinner. I drove home that night, fighting a huge traffic jam on the Schylkill Expressway.

I finally got a day away from RUF on Saturday. I spent the day on a project in the basement and Ruth took me to see Emma that evening.

This week I will visit Trip and Joy Beans at Millersville University, then go to our presbytery’s retreat.
