July 16, 2018 — RUF Assessment

A week ago Ruth and I were settling into our room in Atlanta prior to the beginning of RUF’s July Assessment. We were given two couples and a single man to focus on, with the assistance of a younger RUF minister and his wife who were learning how Assessment works. These weeks are always encouraging and exhausting. We spend virtually every waking hour with the candidates, learning about them and envisioning how they might serve on campus. Our three candidates were exceptional. One couple planted a church 10 years ago and are hoping to transition to ministry with international students through RUF-I.

Assessment was over on Thursday, and we flew home on Friday. Peter drove in from West Virginia that night, and on Saturday we drove to New Jersey for a picnic with Lehigh RUF alumni. Peter preached a wonderful sermon at our church yesterday.

This week I will be busy at home preparing for staff training next week.
