May 13, 2018 — Panama City Beach

I left you last week with the observation that it was warm and sunny in Florida. That was true all week, and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves with the teaching, the staff, and the sunshine. I met with the three men here whom I supervise and Ruth visited with many of the wives. James Forsyth from McLean Presbyterian Church in northern Virginia preached powerful messages each evening.

The main event for me last week was three days of meetings with the other Area Coordinators. Les Newsom in Mississippi is leaving to take a church. We are rearranging the territories in the Southeast and bringing in three new Area Coordinators. So part of last week was orienting them to the job, and part was discussing the issues and policy matters that normally occupy us. Rod Mays, our interim national Coordinator, was with us for most of the time, and a few other national leaders showed up to help us in our interaction with the national office, the intern department, fund-raising, etc. It was a good and productive three days.

I am typing this at the beach, but hold your envy. A storm is brewing and dark clouds are upon us. Rain is predicted every day this week, which is likely to dampen the spirits of the 1300 people coming. Would you pray for some sunshine for us this week?
