I’m in the air heading to Mexico! I’m looking forward to seeing everyone again.
Last Monday Peter and I drove to Pittsburgh for the spring Mid-Atlantic staff meeting. Callie Miller picked a lunch spot which was bursting with personality, and Derek Bates took us to dinner at a restaurant in a huge old church building. Between lunch and dinner we shared and prayed, and I did a bit of teaching.
On Tuesday Ruth and I drove back to Bethlehem, then I continued to New England, arriving in Boston in the early evening. On Wednesday I met with a member of the RUF national committee, worked on a sermon, and had dinner with our former Lehigh intern, Flora, and her husband Clive. I had a long breakfast on Thursday with some of our ministers in Boston, discussing issues in RUF and the challenges of doing ministry in New England. Lunch was with the chairman of the local RUF committee. We had a very productive time discussing expansion plans and ideas for New England.
I drove to Providence that afternoon and had dinner with Eddie Park. Eddie and I spent most of Friday together, then I preached at the Large Group Meeting that evening on “The Mystery of the Gospel” from Colossians. RUF at Brown/RISD is strong and healthy, and it is always encouraging to visit there. I drove home on Saturday, which took longer than I wish because of the intense traffic on I-95.
I’ll be in Mexico this week and fly home on Friday.
