I was expecting to type this on the flight to Atlanta, where Ruth and I are heading for RUF Assessment. However, our flight was repeatedly delayed, and finally cancelled. Fortunately American was willing to rebook us on the first flight out in the morning – a Delta flight at 6:00 am. So we will be heading to bed soon!
Two weeks ago Ruth and I flew to California – I for the annual Coordinators Retreat, and Ruth for the RUF Western Wives Retreat. It was snowing as we left, but it was sunny and warm (relatively) in California. There have been a lot of changes in RUF in the past year, the most significant being the departure of long-time RUF member John Stone. We’ve also hired Russ Whitfield to help with minority recruitment, Casey Cochran to help with our women staff, two new Area Coordinators and two more who will start in June. A lot of changes and a lot to discuss. It was a very productive retreat.
Soon after our retreat, the wives of campus ministers from across the Rockies came for their retreat. Ruth had a great time with the other wives, while I worked on my computer.
United Airlines notified us that our return flight through Chicago would likely be delayed or cancelled due to an incoming storm, and that we could rebook our flights at no cost. So we rearranged our schedules and flew home a day later. Christopher was in from Azerbaijan for a week of training in D.C., so I was able to see him briefly on my way to Dover, DE. I ended with week with a delightful visit with Daryl and Laria Wattley and the students at Delaware State University.
My website was hacked a couple of weeks ago, so I had to create a new one. I started while we were in California, and am wrapping it up now. Creating a website is a big project, but it didn’t take as long as I feared. I just need to find an expert to put the finishing touches on it.
