I didn’t need to leave town until Tuesday last week, so I was able to join the local pastors of our presbytery for our monthly lunch on Monday. I am often out of town and miss these. That night I had dinner with a couple who are considering our new ministry at IUP.
Tuesday morning I drove to Glassboro, NJ, and arrived in time for lunch with Brent Kilman at Rowan University. This is Brent’s first year, and he needs to spend most of his time raising funds to support the work. He is making good progress, and we discussed ways to continue expanding his support base. I am hopeful that Brent will have most of his support in place by late spring or summer. On Wednesday I had lunch with some old friends and supporters, then met with the New Jersey RUF committee chairman.
Thursday morning I drove to Dover, Delaware, to meet with Darryl Wattley at Delaware State. I’ll be returning to Del State next month to discuss the ministry and meet with students. My purpose last week was to assess Daryl’s financial support and consider what action might need to be taken. Daryl has energetically cultivated church support, and it shows! The churches of his presbytery have been steadily increasing their support. Still, there is a long way to go, and the primary growth area is in finding individual support. This is not a crisis. Daryl is doing excellent work, and I am confident that the funding will soon fall into place. Pray for Brent and Daryl as they work hard at raising support for their ministries.
This week I head west to visit Pitt and Penn State. It will be a wonderful week, but very full. Pray for stamina.
