March 29, 2020 — Home, Week 2

We’re still here. As the coronavirus has spread in the U.S. and infected thousands, the restrictions on our movements have tightened. Ruth and I left the house twice last week, then only to pick up prescriptions. But we’re still healthy and energetic.

In this second week of working from home we and other RUF ministers and students are beginning to develop a routine. I have a video conference with the other area coordinators Monday afternoons and I call some of the men I supervise every morning. We have maintained healthy communication by phone and email. They are very active in virtual ministry with their students. Last week I spent considerable time assembling the latest Northeast newsletter which is now at the printer. I set up our office computer so that Kristy can connect from her home. Now she can keep up with everything except filing! Trip Beans will be starting RUF at UMBC in Maryland this summer and Nick Owens has accepted a call to a church near Chicago. So I have spent a lot of time with RUF committees finding replacments for them at Millersville and Delaware.

Tomorrow the Northeast staff will have our own video conference and I have a video conference with a committee on Wednesday. Otherwise, next week should be more of the same.
