Ruth and I left first thing Monday and drove to Morgantown, WV to visit Peter, Megan, and the grandchildren. We had a pleasant drive and visit that evening. I left Tuesday morning and drove to Pittsburgh to visit Derek and Luda Bates and the RUF ministry at the University of Pittsburgh. I met with two students, spent several hours with Derek, and had dinner with Derek and Luda. Derek is an expert Campus Minister and RUF at Pitt is very strong. I had breakfast with Derek on Wednesday before driving to State College.
I spent a delightful Wednesday evening with Cam and Kaela Smith. Cam is the RUF Campus Minister at Penn State. On Thursday I met three students, discussed with Cam, and attended the Large Group Meeting. Penn State RUF is a warm, close-knit group and it was pleasant to talk with the students. They have some significant growth areas, and Cam and I discussed these at length.
I had several hours with Cam Friday morning before a conference call to make decisions about the placement of RUF interns. I had lunch before setting out for Morgantown to pick up Ruth who had enjoyed playing with the grandchildren all week. We spent Friday night there, and arrived home yesterday in time to do laundry and other chores that had accumulated during the week.
This week I will go to Indiana, PA and Akron, Ohio to visit RUF ministries there.
